The Big Pink / Dominos
Dominos is the kind of big bombastic song that comes along out of nowhere and literally blows your mind. It's HUGE. Compared to The Big Pink's classic first single Velvet, Dominos is a pretty upbeat affair yet still manages to maintain a nice level of darkness. With spaced out dreamy backing vocals and massive guitars and synths crammed into the chorus Dominos couldn't be anymore punchy if it tried, especially with the main line that simply states: "These girls fall like dominos". The whole thing is just a wondrous alternative rock number which shows that The Big Pink are more than just about epic introspective emotion as they can also muster up epic extrospective emotion. HEARTY STUFF.
